Treasurer (Trustee)

Thank you for your interest in the position of Treasurer (Voluntary Role) at YMCA Cheshire.

YMCA Cheshire provides supported accommodation for those experiencing homelessness or victims of domestic abuse. We also deliver preventative work within the local community for families, children and young people.

The Treasurer will play a key role in supporting the Board of Trustees by providing strategic financial oversight and guidance. Working closely with the senior leadership team, the postholder will help ensure that YMCA Cheshire’s financial resources are effectively managed and aligned with its charitable objectives.

The role involves overseeing budgets, management accounts, and annual financial statements, as well as advising on financial planning, risk management, and long-term sustainability. The Treasurer will also chair the Finance Sub-Committee and work in partnership with the Head of Strategic Finance to ensure strong financial governance across the organisation.

This role is central to ensuring that the charity remains financially robust while continuing to deliver meaningful impact across the communities we serve.

About You

• Financial qualifications and relevant experience in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Strong understanding of financial governance, reporting, and risk management
• Ability to analyse financial information and provide clear, strategic advice
• Confidence to offer constructive challenge and make informed recommendations
• Good communication and leadership skills, including the ability to chair meetings
• A commitment to the values, mission, and principles of YMCA Cheshire
• Previous board or trustee experience is desirable but not essential
