Building Skills and Confidence in STEM

YMCA Cheshire STEM Club provides in-school and out-of-school educational opportunities for young people aged 8-15.

We focus on hands-on, interactive and fun learning, which is delivered through a series of engaging and creative activities, encouraging students to develop an understanding of a wide range of STEM subjects. Those activities include 3D modelling, programming, biology, electronics and other diverse and interesting subjects.

The STEM Club program aims to cultivate critical thinking, develop problem-solving skills, and build on each young person’s personal character development. By tackling both simple and more complex projects, participants of all abilities are able to collaborate with their peers and build strong working relationships and friendships. Students who take part in STEM demonstrate increased confidence in their own abilities and a deeper understanding of how STEM disciplines apply in real-world situations. These valuable experiences are inspiring students to explore STEM careers and tackle a variety of challenges in a mature and innovative way.

Young people are invited to take part in these sessions via invitation from the school or the organisation that they attend.

STEM Club Specials are extended sessions or external visits which focus on a specific subject area. These sessions usually take place during the school holidays and are free to take part in.

In the past, we have visited museums and held active sessions in drumming, live zoo science and other exciting subjects.
