YMCA Cheshire

Thank you for your interest in the position of Room Leader at GLO Childcare and Education, part of YMCA Cheshire.

YMCA Cheshire is excited to be opening a new 79-place childcare setting in Crewe. GLO Childcare and Education will provide high-quality childcare and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years, giving them the best start in life. Guided by our family work approach, we place the child and family at the heart of everything we do.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Room Leader to lead and manage one of our nursery rooms at GLO Childcare and Education.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. One day may involve leading engaging learning experiences and supporting children’s development, while another could involve mentoring colleagues, working with parents and carers, maintaining high standards of care, or ensuring the room meets EYFS and Ofsted requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Childcare Manager in maintaining a high-quality, safe and stimulating environment
  • Lead, motivate and support Early Years Educators, Assistants, Apprentices, Volunteers and Students
  • Ensure compliance with EYFS, Ofsted, Health & Safety and YMCA Cheshire policies
  • Plan and deliver engaging learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework
  • Act as a keyworker for a group of children, supporting their learning and development
  • Build positive partnerships with parents and carers, keeping them informed of their child’s progress
  • Promote partnership working across GLO Childcare and Education and YMCA Cheshire
  • Maintain accurate records and complete administration required by regulatory bodies
  • Ensure risk assessments are completed and followed within the room
  • Support, supervise and mentor staff to help them fulfil their roles effectively

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Believes every child deserves the best possible start in life
  • Is passionate about delivering outstanding childcare and education
  • Has extensive knowledge of the EYFS Statutory Framework and early years legislation
  • Holds a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification
  • Has experience leading or supervising a nursery room or small team
  • Can build strong relationships with children, families and colleagues
  • Has excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
  • Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion and continuous improvement
  • Can work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Has a genuine respect and regard for children and families

Why Join Us?

At YMCA Cheshire, you’ll become part of a passionate organisation committed to creating better futures for children, families and communities.

You’ll also benefit from a comprehensive training package, Employee Assistance Programme, health cashback plan, conference opportunities, flexible working, onsite gym, café discount and much more.

This is a full-time permanent role, working 38 hours per week across four days, Monday to Friday, reporting to the Childcare Manager. Please note that the role is subject to the successful opening of the setting and subsequent Ofsted registration.
