YMCA Cheshire is excited to be opening a new 79-place childcare setting in Crewe. GLO Childcare and Education will provide high-quality childcare and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years, giving them the best start in life. Guided by our family work approach, we place the child and family at the heart of everything we do.

The Role

We are seeking passionate and dedicated Early Years Educator Bank Workers to support the day-to-day running of our nursery rooms at GLO Childcare and Education, based at the Apollo Campus in Crewe.

Working on an as-and-when-required basis, you will provide additional support across the setting, helping the team deliver high-quality childcare and education within a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where childrenโ€™s curiosity can grow and they can thrive.

This is a varied and rewarding role. One shift may involve supporting engaging learning experiences and childrenโ€™s development, while another could involve acting as a keyworker, communicating with parents and carers, maintaining a safe learning environment or assisting the wider nursery team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Room Leader and Deputy Room Leader with the day-to-day running of nursery rooms for children aged 3 months to 5 years
  • Help provide a high-quality, safe and stimulating environment where children can grow and reach their full potential
  • Comply with EYFS, Ofsted, Health and Safety and YMCA Cheshire policies and procedures
  • Support the nursery in securing and sustaining Ofsted registration
  • Work alongside the wider team to plan and deliver engaging learning experiences in line with the EYFS
  • Act as a keyworker for a group of children when required
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed of their childโ€™s progress
  • Ensure daily routines and safe working practices are followed
  • Maintain accurate records and complete administration required by regulatory bodies
  • Support risk assessments for activities, equipment and the nursery environment
  • Support apprentices, students and work experience placements
  • Attend team meetings and undertake relevant training
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion and continuous improvement throughout the setting
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond appropriately to queries or concerns

About You

Weโ€™re looking for someone who:

  • Believes every child deserves the best possible start in life
  • Is passionate about delivering high-quality childcare, education and support for children and families
  • Has extensive working knowledge of the EYFS Statutory Framework
  • Understands relevant early years legislation, safeguarding and the SEN Code of Practice
  • Holds a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or equivalent
  • Has experience working within an early years setting
  • Has experience acting as a keyworker and working with parents and carers
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Is organised, accurate and able to manage competing priorities
  • Can work independently and as part of a team
  • Is committed to safeguarding, confidentiality, inclusion and continuous improvement
  • Has genuine respect and regard for children and families
  • Is willing to work unsociable hours when required

A Paediatric First Aid certificate and excellent IT skills would be desirable.

This is a permanent, zero-hour contract, working as and when required, with an hourly rate of ยฃ13.57. The role reports to the Childcare Manager and is subject to the successful opening of the setting and subsequent Ofsted registration.
