Childcare Manager at GLO Childcare and Education

YMCA Cheshire is opening a brand-new 79-place childcare setting in Crewe, providing high-quality childcare and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Guided by our family work approach, we place children and their families at the heart of everything we do, giving every child the very best start in life.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced, passionate and inspirational Childcare Manager to lead the setup and day-to-day management of GLO Childcare and Education.

This is an exciting opportunity to establish and shape a brand-new childcare provision, leading a dedicated staff team to deliver outstanding childcare and early years education in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment. You will oversee the operational management of the setting, ensure compliance with EYFS and Ofsted requirements, and work closely with the Strategic Lead for Childcare to bring the vision and ethos of GLO Childcare and Education to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage GLO Childcare and Education for children aged 3 months to 5 years
• Provide professional leadership to staff, volunteers and students
• Ensure compliance with the EYFS Statutory Framework, Ofsted requirements and all relevant legislation
• Develop and maintain a high-quality, inclusive childcare environment
• Lead, motivate and support staff to deliver outstanding early years practice
• Build positive partnerships with parents and carers to support children’s learning and development
• Monitor and continually improve the quality of childcare and education provided
• Oversee health and safety, safeguarding, risk assessments and regulatory compliance
• Manage budgets, staffing, recruitment, training and service development
• Promote partnership working across YMCA Cheshire and with external agencies
• Support occupancy through effective marketing and excellent customer service
• Maintain accurate records and ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the setting

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

• Believes every child deserves the best possible start in life
• Is passionate about delivering outstanding childcare and education
• Is an inspirational leader who can motivate and develop others
• Has extensive knowledge of the EYFS Statutory Framework and early years legislation
• Holds a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (Degree desirable)
• Has significant experience working within an early years setting, including management experience
• Can build strong relationships with children, families, staff and partner organisations
• Has excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills
• Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion, equality and continuous improvement
• Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle

This is a full-time permanent role, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, reporting to the Strategic Lead for Childcare. Please note that the role is subject to the successful opening of the setting and subsequent Ofsted registration.
